This is where things go when my homepage gets cluttered. If you missed a post or are looking for something you read previously, you can always find it here.
I Look Like a Scientist (February 13, 2012)
If you have not yet seen "This is What a Scientist Looks Like," it's a fantastic tumblr page dedicated to breaking stereotypes of what scientists do (and do not) look like. Being a scientist, I felt obligated to do my part by submitting the the most unusual picture of myself that I could find:
Long live science; long live "water chess."
WonderCon 2012 (February 14, 2012)
Once again, Terry and I are headed back to WonderCon for our (now annual) "Real Science in Science Fiction" panel. The talk will include highlights from 2010 and 2011 (archived on the videos page) as well as new content from another year of pop sci-fi. WonderCon is in Anaheim this year, and we managed to snag a Saturday panel (woot!) on March 17. Check the schedule page for exact time and location.
Blog Review of HTDYOC (January 12, 2012)
A friend of mine from undergrad just posted a blog review of How to Defeat Your Own Clone, and it has one the nicest summaries that I have ever read, including an answer for anyone wondering if Clone is too intellectual for them:
"Answer: ten year-olds have the brains for this book. Well, brainy ten year-old brains. It is so well-articulated that the layperson should have no trouble with the scientific prose. It is written in such an intelligent way that the non-intelligent will feel brilliant!"
Thank you Heather! Reviews like that make me grin like a brainy ten year-old.
